Marzipan is not a particularly engine-y sort of smell, so unless it starts behaving weirdly, don't freak out about it. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Have you put half a tank of Bio Enthonol, or 'E6' or something in?Two stroke oil, once upon a time was often vegetable oil based... like the infamouse 'Castrol-R'...... & I actually have a recipe in an owners book for making your own two stroke oil from vegetable oil, some where... modern two stroke oils tend to be mineral based, and for many years have been more sophisticated catalyltically cracked and blended 'synthetic' oils..... however, with the duty on petro-chemicals and road fuels in general these days.... and the polical incentive to drive 'renewable energy', via Bio Diesel of Bioethanol fuels... I am WONDERING...... marzipan, is made from almonds, which contain cyanide, or compounds of... as do many nuts.... In europe, 'vegetable oil' is traditionally, 'Olive Oil'. But cheaper 'sunflower Seed Oil' is often substituted, and the very cheap 'vegetable oil' is as often made from rape seed.... However, in Africa and Asia, they often use coconut oil, as its a by product, and hence cheap, and is used for cooking, but they also refine and distill it, to make substitutes for petro chemical lubricants and the like.... I believe its been used in a lot for cosmetics as a 'base' for many years...... but similarly used are lots of unts and other 'bio-mass' by products that are 'cheap'..... So, if two stroke, and you are using a cheapo forecoart two stroke oil.... possible that its based on a nut oil..... likewise bio ethanol petrol, made from vodka blended with petrol, very likely they might use a nut oil as an emulsifier to make the alchohol and petrol 'mix', or it would seperate out like french dressing..... High tech and conspiricy theory like, but possible. Alternatively..... work collegues, or college mates, or the like? Couple of the lads I worked with in the tool room, rewired the indicators on my bike back to front one tea brake! while at college, sticking potatoes on peoples exausts was a common prank..... amongst others..... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them! Only a little between a water port and the piston. Not oil way. I fixed it and can only put it down to the antifreeze which did smell a little like marzipan but when vaporised it was 10 x worse. Of course, I'm not suggesting that you have done the same or your H/G is gone but it's worth a check. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/#!/JklTackle |
