The world overproduces 700,000 loaves of bread every day because of poor forecasting and #FOMO at every step in the supply chain! With #Blockchain enabled #blockchain in the supply chain knows exactly how much inventory is available in each transition… and how much is needed to produce and send … hence reducing #waste and increasing #sustainability. #LeanBlockchain

Once again, the Dutch, known for their practical problem-solving skills, have come up with an innovative solution. In the Netherlands, there's a relatively new deposit system for bottles and cans: when you purchase a drink, an additional €0.15 is charged, which can be refunded upon returning the container. This initiative, common in many European nations and some US states, aims to reduce waste and promote recycling. The challenge arises when individuals are unwilling to carry around empty bottles until they find a place to reclaim the deposit. Disposing of these containers seems wasteful, especially when you're essentially tossing away real money. These "donation rings" (doneerringen) simplify the process for those in need to collect these discarded items and claim the deposit. This means you no longer have to carry around unwanted bottles, increasing the likelihood of proper recycling, while also providing much-needed funds to those who can benefit from it.In today's society, achieving a win is challenging. However, in Amsterdam, this simple invention has resulted in a triple win. This modest innovation exemplifies how, in a well-functioning society, a cleverly executed idea can effectively address both minor and major issues.#amsterdam | #homeless | #charity

Between 1-12 June, for every 10 minutes of movement tracked in the adidas running app, adidas donate €1 to CommonGoal for projects that educate communities on sustainability through sport - up to €1.5m - so that we can Move For The Planet. With 34 different eligible sports - everything from running and rugby to American football and basketball - it doesn't matter how we move, just that we move.Whether it's providing training on how to reduce plastic waste in sports facilities or renewing a community's sports pitch using recycled materials, our collective movement means collective change. We move to out-do each other, we move to have fun, and now we come together to move for the planet.#impossibleisnothing #adidas

Did you know that Dutch consumers could have earned 87 million by depositing their plastic bottles instead of throwing them away? The Dutch Afvalfonds published these numbers recently. They claim this is due through a combination of bad policy and a lack of sites. PSF has been advocating for years that returning plastic bottles should be easier and more rewarding & so we couldn’t agree more with Afvalfonds’ findings…One of the ways in which we are currently working on solving this problem is by consulting with the NS, who last year installed deposit sites at some of their stations! A initiative, that has proven difficult to execute due to lots or red tape. Instead of the planned 50 stations, the plan halted at the 5 biggest train stations in the Netherlands. However, what is great about these deposit sites at the train stations is that you can have the money deposited directly into your bank account, or donate it to Plastic Soup Foundation! So next time you are commuting to work, bring your plastic bottles and cans and deposit them at the NS sites on the 5 biggest stations of the Netherlands: Amsterdam-, Eindhoven-, Den Haag-, Rotterdam- and Utrecht Centraal.

5,000 trees coming 🎉 🥂 🎄 It is happening. The holes have been made (see video). Trees planted next month (stay tune). So excited! A first round of thank you is in order, plus some important details:1. About 60% of the cost is covered by Tour de France - Women, which has been resurrected and is headed by the multi-talented Marion Rousse and owned by Amaury family (they have newspapers such as l'Equipe and organize tons of sport events around the world like the Tour de France). This is a direct result of their commitment to make the tour de France #netzero: they sponsor tree projects in the area where the TdF goes; #carboncapture . This is very special for me because I love cycling, and support women sport. TdF women had been cancelled and Mme Rousse resurrected it. Cycling like many other sports is very male dominated. It should not be. 2. Another chunk of the cost is covered by Alex Arnbäck as a charitable donation.3. Olivier Gleizes from the local forest state organization analyzed the ground to decide on best tree specie to plant, guide, help, find financial sponsors etc.4. Sotextho an SME based in the deep countryside just came up with green tree protections at an affordable price. It is effectively a start up, supported by the mighty Bpifrance (a French SWF / #venturecapital fund focusing mostly on small French companies). Instead of using plastic protections, these guys propose to use sheep wool, manage to produce these socks without any glue (or other chemicals). The sock #biodegrades naturally after 5 years. Animals cant eat the tree & the sheep smell is a repellent. They price it at 2 euros each. They had a first trial last year on Bordeaux #vineyards and it worked wonders. For vineyards (another passion of mine lol) it is particularly exciting because they replace all kind of chemicals used to protect against animals.I contributed land (quite special as this is the one of my ancestors, where they had their 5 cows, trying to survive), organization, and some money. Hopefully this will be used as a proof of concept and others will do the same. The #additionality here is 100%. That's #impactinvesting.

About to sign off for Xmas, but still haven't sorted gifts? Don't worry, we've got you covered with our top 8 sustainable xmas gifts 🌲 (links in our blog here: https://lnkd.in/eqrHbRMX ) 1. Charity donations 💓- you can't go wrong with this one, people love it and will love you for it. 2. Books 📖- you can get second-hand books in great condition from World of Books (World of Books Group).3. Jewellery 💍- you can get beautiful vintage and antique jewellery from places like Forage and Finds on Instagram, or if you want something really luxurious you should check out Skydiamond, who make their diamonds by extracting carbon from the atmosphere. 4. Vinyls 💿- if you're looking for something a little more affordable, charity shops have lots of vinyls. 5. Photo frames 📷- if you want to gift someone a nice photo, charity shops have the best photo frames. 6. Toiletries 🧴- there are tonnes of refillable, sustainable brands out there but we would recommend Faith In Nature, Siabann, and Eco Warrior®. 7. Plants 🪴- a great option, but avoid the flowers... 8. Food & drink 🍷- get stuff people will actually want and eat, not things that will go to waste as this will lead to more carbon emissions. You could gift homemade chutneys, or check out the Carbon Jacked carbon negative wine. 9. (I know we said 8... but are you complaining..?) Etsy 🧣- you can find some amazing handcrafted goods from fab sellers on Etsy. Remember, we don’t need more sh*t in our lives. So don’t overbuy. It’s all about spending time together, not presents. Happy (sustainable) shopping & Merry Xmas from the CJ Team. 🎬Jess Rogers#CarbonJacked #Xmas #GiftIdeas #SustainableShopping #SustainableXmas #Charity #Christmas2023 #SustainableXmas
