DAILY JOURNAL, JOHNSON COUNTY, IND. TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2015 A5 Pamela Carol Belt INDIANAPOLIS Pamela Carol Belt, 58, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015. She was born Sept. 27, 1956, in London, Kentucky, to the late Herman and Margaret Gray Henson. She was a member of Shelby Street Pentecostal Lighthouse Church.

She enjoyed photography and spending much of her time with her family and at church. Survivors include her husband, Steve Belt; her son, Adam Belt; her daughter, Devyn (Brent) Hood; two grandchildren; two brothers, Ricky (Charlene) Henson and Roger (Darlene) Henson; a sister-in-law, Kathy Slagle Henson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Henson. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shelby Street Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, 8620 Shelby Indianapolis.

Pastors Carlos Burdine and Wayne Grace will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Street Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, in care of the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Hendershot GREENWOOD Barbara Ann Hendershot, 68, of Greenwood, died Sunday, July 12, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Roy (Chelle) Hendershot and Donald Hendershot; her mother, Velma (Lashbrook) Battieger; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, LeRoy Battieger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L.

Walter Donald Jones FRANKLIN Walter Donald Jones, 92, lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 24, 1922, in Johnson County, to Henry W. Jones and Florence Ethel (Land) Jones. He married Katherinee Janice (Mull) Jones on Nov. 12, 1943, in Indianapolis; she survives.

Walter was a self-employed building contractor and developer. He and his wife owned and developed Jones subdivision and Stonybrook Estates in Franklin, and co-owned and developed Jefferson Meadows in Franklin. Walter was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin, Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107 Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and Franklin Order of the Eastern Star No. 439.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the Louis Luckenback and SS Hollywood. He served in the Navy in the from June 1942 until the middle of October 1945. While serving on the Louis Luckenback, two enemy fleets were crushed at one time, receiving their surrenders only four months apart. Walter received a letter of appreciation from Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal, Washington, D.C.

On Oct. 24,1945, he wrote, other Navy at any other time had done so much. For your part in these achievements, you deserve to be proud as long as you live. The Nation which you served at a time of crisis will remember you with Walter is survived by his wife of almost 72 years, Katherinee J. (Mull) Jones of Franklin; daughters, Karen Lee Gimian (Allan) of Montclair, Virginia, Sharon Kay DeWitt (Donn) of Franklin and Jan Elizabeth Reichel (Bruce) of Franklin; grandchildren, Chad VanEtten (Laura), Casey VanEtten, Todd Gimian, Tara Gimian, Jennifer Reichel Morey (Nick), Walter Jones, Homer Jones, and Jennie-Jean Katherinee Jones; six great- grandchildren; two great-step- grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Donald Mull (Gwen) of Greenwood, and sisters-in-law, Pauline Gaither of Greenwood, Beulah Jones of Franklin and Hilda Jones of Franklin.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Henry W. and Florence Ethel (Land) Jones; his son, Thomas Douglas Jones; and by his five brothers, Cecil B. Jones, Harold V. Jones, Roy E. Jones, Charles H.

Jones and William A. Jones. The Rev. William Horner will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S.

Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary where a Masonic service will take place at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1939, in Franklin, to the late Robert and Nola (Henderson) Ray. Bob was a microwave technician for Valcom and retired after 25 years. He also had a farm where he raised chickens and turkeys and enjoyed gardening. Survivors are his wife, Joyce Fay (Davis) Ray, whom he married on June 21, 1961; sons, Robert J.

Ray and wife Darlene of Seymour, William G. Ray and wife Tina of Franklin, Donald W. Ray and wife Virginia of Martinsville and John P. Ray and wife Kekeliah of Paragon; a daughter, Renita Russell; a sister, Barbara Keith of Martinsville; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy A.

Ray; a sister, Betty Foltz; and grandsons, Joshua R. Ray and William T. Ray. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin with Pastor Jeff Souders officiating.

Ethelda V. Sanders FRANKLIN Ethelda V. Sanders, 93, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015, at her Franklin residence. The daughter of Clearl S. and Altha M.

Harris Blackwell, Peggy was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Heltonville. For 20 years, she worked as the deli manager at Standard Grocery, retiring in 1987. For 10 years she was the pie maker for the House of Franklin, working into her 80s. Peggy attended Franklin Assembly Church.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda Milroy and Diane Sanders, both of Franklin; sons, Rick (Melynda) Sloan of Louisiana and Mike Sanders of Franklin; sisters, Iona Senecal of Tennessee, Diona (Allen) Winslow of Florida and Shirley (John) Allore of Greenwood; brothers, Eddie (Barb) Blackwell of Franklin and Larry (Sue) Blackwell of Trafalgar; sisters-in-law, Lorene Sanders and Velma Blackwell, both of Franklin; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Sanders; a daughter, Sandra Robinette; sisters, Beatrice Payton, Norma Russell and Margaret Mefford; and brothers, Junior and Jim Blackwell. Wade, 88, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, July 12, 2015. Survivors include two children, Randy (Andi) Wade and Roberta (Dennis) Wade Miller; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Wade; and a son, Robert A. Wade.
